The "Sideline Fence" & End-of-Game Situations

Why the "Prevent" defense fails, and how to install the proper mechanics for the final 0:10.

Stop losing games in the "Middle 8." Most defensive coordinators practice the Hail Mary bat-down, but few install a proper "Sideline Fence" for the plays before the last snap. In this clinic, I break down the mechanics of the "Sideline Fence" coverage, the "Flush Stunt" for mobile QBs, and the "Box Out" technique to secure victory.

» In this episode:

  • The Concept: Why you must force the tackle in-bounds to burn the clock.

  • Alignment: Setting the Low, Intermediate, and High defenders.

  • The Flush: Why you must force a right-handed QB to his left (away from strength).

  • The Fix: "Basketball on Grass" — Boxing out in the End Zone rather than drifting.
